Biography

Dorothy Marie Marek, 61, of La Grange, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 18th, 2010 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Dorothy was born in El Campo, Texas on January 27, 1949, the daughter of the late Emil and Annie (Scotka) Korenek.

Dorothy was a former employee of Texaco in Houston as an Accountant and served as State Secretary for KJT of La Grange, Texas. She was a faithful servant of our Lord, loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne and two sons Daryl Marek and wife Katie of Bryan, Texas; and Keith Marek and wife Shelley of San Marcos; five brothers Jerome Korenek and wife Elizabeth of Rosenburg, Texas; Emil Korenek and wife Donna of El Campo, Texas; Edward Korenek and wife Roseanna of Wharton, Texas; Lawrence Korenek and wife Kathy of Hallettsville, Texas; and Dennis Korenek and wife Carol of El Campo., Texas.

She is also survived by grandchildren Grace Anne Marek and Matthew Edward Marek of San Marcos; mother-in-law and father-in-law Edwin and Emma Marek of Richmond, Texas; brother-in-law Danny and wife Janice Marek of Rosenburg, Texas and sister-in-law Patsy and husband Meinard Kutra of Richmond, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law Millie Marek, and grandchild Emma Rose Marek.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 20th from 3 - 8:30 P.M. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home and on Sunday, February 21st from 3 - 6:30 P.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn, Texas. A rosary will follow at 6:30 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, February 22nd, with Msgr. Stanley Petru and Father Dennis Darilek officiating.

Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Flower Fund, c/o Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hostyn, Texas, St. James Catholic School Book Fund, 507 S. Camp St., Seguin,Texas 78155, or charity of choice.
